Local insurance broker Larry Harrison, owner and president of Harrison Insurance Agency, will participate on a panel for Hanley Wood’s webinar “Patient Protection Affordable Care Act: What You Need To Know NOW”

on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. ET.
The webinar is designed for audiences of “Remodeling” and “ProSales” magazines and expects to attract 200 participants made up of remodelers and lumberyard owners.
 Harrison will be joined on the panel by Craig Webb, Editor in Chief of “Remodeling” and “ProSales” magazines in Washington, D.C. and Doug Delp, president of The Delp Group in Green Lane, Pa.
Harrison will cover and explain state exchanges. Since things are up in the air with exchanges, Harrison will advise listeners to keep an eye on what’s happening in their state
(see attached State Exchanges Vary Widely exhibit). There will also be about a 30 minute Q&A.

Sam’s Club Donates Gift Certificates to Teachers

Sam’s Club donates gift certificates to teachers at Charlotte and Jerry Keller Elementary School.

WHAT: The Clark County Association of Health Underwriters’ (CCAHU) adopted school,
Charlotte & Jerry Keller Elementary, will be the recipient of Sam’s Club’s $1,000 donation as part of their Teacher’s Reward Program. Twenty $50 gift certificates will be awarded to the elementary school’s teachers.

The CCAHU, which annually donates schools supplies, healthy snacks and clothes to the school’s children, and Sam’s Club will be part of the presentation at the school on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 8:00 a.m

Golf Tournament Raises $12,000 for Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

CCAHU Also Raises $15,000 to send reps to Capitol Conference;

LAS VEGAS – Oct. 16, 2012– The Clark County Association of Health Underwriters (CCAHU) held a Golf Tournament at The Arroyo Golf Club at Red Rock and raised $12,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

The golf tournament held on Sept. 27 was an all – day affair with a BBQ luncheon, raffles, prizes and games. The tournament also raised $15,000 for the CCAHU to use for sending representatives to the Capitol Conference in Washington, D.C., Feb. 25 – 27, 2013, for scholarships and to attend the Nevada legislature when it’s in session in Carson City.

Broker Larry Harrison Gives Health Insurance Public Policy Talk to UNLV

Local insurance broker Larry Harrison, owner of Harrison Insurance Agency and health care expert, has been asked to make a Health Insurance Public Policy presentation to the UNLV Health, Politics & Policy class on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 7 p.m.

Harrison will be addressing the interpretation of current health care bills including the status of Nevada’s Health Care Reform (HCR), the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, and the overall mandates and implantation of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
“Unfortunately, the bill did not address the real problem, which is the cost of health care,” said Harrison, who is also a stakeholder for Nevada’s Health Insurance Exchange. He will explain “The Good, the Bad & the Ugly” aspects of Health Care Reform.

 Twenty six states filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the PPACA and Mark Hutchinson represented Nevada,” said Larry Harrison, member of both the Clark County Association of Health Underwriters (CCAHU) and NAHU organizations. Hutchinson is a Republican candidate for the District 6 State Senate seat.
Hutchison has more 20 years of experience handling complex and high stakes litigation. He has represented companies and individuals in a broad range of industries and practice, including business and commercial, tort, healthcare, construction, and probate and appellate litigation, along with employment law.
The CCAHU’s meeting is open to the public.

Clark County Association of Health Underwriters Changes Monthly Meeting Location and Time

Beginning on Tuesday, June 12, the Clark County Association of Health Underwriters (CCAHU) will be changing locations for their monthly meetings. The group is relocating to Sierra Gold at 6515 S. Jones Road, Las Vegas, Nev., 702-221-4120 and the time is changing from noon to 8:30 a.m. and will run until 10a.m.

CCAHU will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of every month. At the June 12 meeting, Dwight Mazzone, past national president of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and current outgoing president of the Nevada State Chapter of NAHU, will officiate the swearing in ceremonies of the 2012 -13 officers.
